Transhipment

Our expertise does not stop at the quay. Thanks to a high-performance transhipment system, our barges reach the Capesize vessels anchored offshore, giving direct access to the world's aluminium markets.

Towards global markets

Thanks to a high-performance transhipment system, our barges reach the Capesize vessels anchored offshore. This ability to load giant vessels gives our customers lower freight costs and reliable delivery, to Asia as well as to Europe.

Too large to berth directly, the Capesize vessels wait offshore at anchor. That is where our barges come in, towed with precision to their side, where the ore is transferred in turn. A manoeuvre repeated as many times as needed, until the vessel is loaded and sets sail for its destination markets.

Our expertise

The last link before export

Dedicated barges

Towed by tugs, they provide the link between the Port of Kokaya and the vessels anchored offshore.

Towards the Capesize vessels

Loading high-capacity vessels, anchored on the open sea, to optimise every shipment.

Asian & European markets

Guinean bauxite exported to the world's major aluminium markets.

Reliable delivery

A well-drilled transhipment chain, ensuring lower freight costs for our customers.

Our method

A manoeuvre regulated in all weathers

Every transhipment operation is preceded by a check of sea conditions and of the stability of the stowage. The crews of the barges and tugs communicate continuously with the receiving vessel, and a final inspection validates each cargo before its definitive transfer. This is what guarantees a reliable chain right to the last nautical mile.

Sea conditions checked

Every manoeuvre is preceded by a weather and stowage check.

Continuous communication

Barges, tugs and the receiving vessel stay in permanent contact.

Cargo validated

A final inspection precedes the definitive transfer.
